Hello! I’m Mira
Mum of two beautiful kids, lifelong mover, BASI Pilates teacher, and owner of two studios in Jakarta. I help people like you transform their lives through the power of Pilates.
The Movement Begins: Dancing Through Life
Movement has always been my language. As a young girl in Jakarta, you’d find me competing at mall dance competitions every other weekend. Modern dance wasn’t just something I did โ it was who I was. That pure joy of movement, the freedom of expression through dance, was everything to me.
When Life Forces You to Stop: The Injury That Changed Everything
During my journey to become a professional dancer. Every day was filled with performances, rehearsals, and intense training. I was living my dream. Then came the neck injury that stopped me in my tracks. Wearing a neck brace for months. I experienced what it meant to be still when your whole identity is wrapped up in movement. The hardest part wasn’t just the physical pain, but watching my fellow dancers continue while I sat still. This period taught me my first profound lesson about my body โ you don’t realize how precious it is until it’s taken away. Yet sometimes, life’s biggest setbacks lead to our greatest transformations.
Finding a New Path: The Pilates Discovery
Then I discovered something that would change not just my recovery but my life’s purpose โ Pilates. This wasn’t just another form of exercise; it was a revelation about how movement could heal. Through Pilates, I found strength, stability, and a way to protect my neck from future injuries. More importantly, I discovered my calling: helping others find healing through movement.
From Student to Teacher: My Journey Around the World
My love for learning has taken me across the globe, and each city taught me something special. It all started in Melbourne, where I got my dance degree and my first Pilates certifications. I was hungry to learn more, so I packed my bags and headed to London.
London changed everything. That’s where I met Rael Isacowitz, who became my mentor and introduced me to BASI Pilates. He showed me how small, precise movements could create transformation in people’s bodies.
Next stop was Amsterdam, where I took a big leap, buying into my first Pilates studio. We became the first BASI Pilates studio in the Netherlands! Finally, returning to Jakarta, I came full circle. Opening two studios, Aalaya Pilates and BASI Pilates Indonesia HQ. Now, I’m not just teaching students – I’m teaching teachers as part of the prestigious BASI faculty.

Life’s Greatest Teachers: Motherhood’s Lessons
Pregnancy and motherhood brought new dimensions to my understanding of movement and the power of Pilates. In 2016, I experienced two life-changing events โ opening Aalaya Pilates and welcoming my daughter, Kaia. As a Pilates teacher, having an emergency caesarean was both terrifying and humbling. Years of core work seemingly undone.
Now I had to practice what I preached and rebuild from the ground up. Each small victory in my recovery deepened my empathy for my clients’ journeys. Then, at 40, my son Theo arrived โ another emergency caesareanโbut this time, my body responded differently. Thanks to my Pilates practice, I had no diastasis recti! Proving that our bodies can become more resilient with knowledge and proper movement.
My children have taught me more about body wisdom than any certification could. Kaia’s energy and Theo’s determination remind me daily why movement matters. Through them, I’ve learnt that every pregnancy is unique. Everybody tells its own story, and our bodies are remarkably intelligent if we just listen. These personal experiences have profoundly shaped how I guide my prenatal and postnatal clients. Now I can navigate their journeys with greater understanding.
The Birth of The Mira Method
After 18+ years of clinical Pilates teaching in some of the world’s top studios, I developed The Mira Method. This isn’t about chasing the burn, ending up sore for days, or pushing your body to exhaustion. Instead, it’s a thoughtful approach born from decades of experience working with thousands of bodies โ from professional dancers to those battling chronic pain.
The Mira Method is built on five core principles:
- Movement as Medicine
- Listen to Your Body’s Wisdom
- Precision with Purpose
- Sustainable Strength
- Progress at Your Pace.
Success Story Spotlight:
One of my most memorable transformations was a client who couldn’t sit for more than 30 minutes without excruciating back pain. Surgery seemed inevitable. Through consistent practice, they not only avoided surgery but regained the ability to travel, work, and live without pain. These are the transformations that fuel my passion. Watching people reclaim their lives through movement that heals.
The Mira Method isn’t just another exercise program. It’s a roadmap to understanding and working with your body, not against it. Through thousands of teaching hours and countless client successes, I’ve seen that sustainable, pain-free movement is possible for everyone. We just need to approach it with intelligence, patience, and precision.
